10 reasons not to upgrade to windows 8

10 reasons not to upgrade to windows 8

10 reasons not to upgrade to windows8

Windows 8 is released, and they gave you 10 reasons to go. Let’s see the good reasons … Remain under Windows 7! Changes too radical, difficult cohabitation between Modern UI and the traditional desktop limited interest touch on a computer, and if more was expected Windows 9?

1: The disappearance of the Start menu

With Windows 8, the Start menu which we are accustomed since Windows 95 simply disappears, requiring round trips / permanent returns with Modern UI interface. If there are many third-party software alternatives to restore the old menu, the user experience remains completely upset. Especially since the startup environment “Metro” cannot be changed. But many users are sure to find it useless to make the most of their daily tasks.

2: A hybrid system

Windows 8 is a system that coexist two environments: Modern UI and office. The first is modern and suitable for touch use, while the second is almost similar to the Windows 7 start menu and less. Besides the fact that Microsoft imposes Modern UI as the startup screen, you find yourself constantly wavering between one and the other without much coherence. Thus opening a photo or video in the Classic environment, it is found displayed in full screen mode in the application Modern UI by default. Disconcerting…

3: A partitioned environment?

If identification via e-mail after a Microsoft (Live, Xbox, Windows Phone …) account has its advantages, it is not necessarily the taste of everyone, and in particular shows the willingness of the editor partitioning the environment as does Apple. A process that cannot be found on Windows 7, although it is still possible, in Windows 8, to connect through a local account.

4: Two navigators for the price of one

As for the two environments of Windows 8, both versions Modern UI and Internet Explorer desktop maintain a special relationship and the least confusing. Modern version of the UI offers a stripped with minimal options and interface does not support plug-ins, except for the inclusion of Flash (but only from a white list of sites). So when you want to install, you are automatically redirected to the “Office” version, including go / return. Novices may be completely lost…

5: No compelling for professionals

Professionals equipped with a computer with a keyboard and mouse need quick access to their applications. The Pro version of Windows 8 does not provide direct access to the office and is particularly unpleasant to use with traditional devices. Clearly oriented towards the general public, the environment “Metro” is too fun to seduce.

6: The value of touch computer remains to be demonstrated

Computers all-in-one Tablet PC portable touch screens never really wowed crowds. Besides the dirt that accumulates (obviously) on the slab, it is impossible to be as accurate and fast with the fingertips with a mouse. Most of the rest dedicated to use touch on the big screen applications are limited mainly to video games and drawing applications simplistic. Although manufacturers play the game and prepare to launch computers and touch devices tailored to Windows 8 experience was never really satisfactory so far.

7: The spectrum of Vista

While Windows 7 stable, fast and functional Vista has almost forget, here that Microsoft is back. Why impose changes as brutal against all odds when he could just simply let those users, starting with the choice between the environment “classic” desktop and Modern UI?

8: A shop of gadget applications?

Modeled on the Apple App Store, the Windows Store provides access to applications for the Modern UI interface. A concept that has been proven on mobile devices, but that is more of a gadget on a computer. These also involve specific development constraints: even Microsoft offers its Office suite … as desktop.

9: A disturbing ergonomic keyboard and mouse

In attempting to impose on the mobile market with its new suitable for use touch system, Microsoft sometimes seems to have forgotten more than one billion users who still use a PC with a keyboard and mouse! The corners of the processed active areas to call the toolbar and the Application Manager screen, especially, are neither practical nor natural to use.

10: Is it really necessary to upgrade to Windows 8?

Microsoft has managed to achieve a superb system for mobile products. Besides a strong visual identity and ergonomic, the magic really works on tablet as a smartphone with Windows Phone. Deployment computer is much less appealing against his eldest Windows 7 remains a powerful solution and always adapted to the needs of today’s users.
