3 web options to reduce image size online

Three web options to reduce the size of your images

A few days ago we told you about Tinypng as a web application you can use to reduce the size of our images in PNG decreasing the amount of colors to win well over 50% in file size. Tinypng respects transparency and is a very practical option but not the only.

We leave you with three options that can help with the issue:

jpeg-optimizer.com  : Reduce the size of JPEG images. You can specify the percentage proportional to the quality of the result, and the size of the final image. With a share of 85% is generally not notice a big quality loss, reducing the file size enough.

Smushit : Known Yahoo application that reduces the size without losing the quality of the original image. You can upload a photo of your computer, specify the URL of an existing image on the web or install a WordPress plugin to optimize any picture to go up to your blog.

compresspng.com: Alternative to Tinypng specializing in PNG files that allow transparent areas (unlike the JPEG). We can upload files in other formats but all of them will become 8-bit PNG form automatically.

The size of the images we use on our website is a variable that deserves much attention. Not only is it important for readers to their content load faster  it also helps reduce the amount of information that leaves our server  meaning just in a smaller bill at the end of the month in many cases.
